A pair of bracelets
Mughal or Deccan, India - 17th century

Fabricated from pure gold (with no lac or wax content) set in kundan technique with precious gem stones. Diamonds, rubies and emeralds, natural and un-foiled, form little crowns in a continuous running pattern. Such bracelets were often worn with other bangles or bracelets adorning either side. In the Indian culture, from ancient times to the present day, ornaments for the wrists have always had significance.
